The release of phosphate or pyrophosphate in an enzymatic reaction can be detected by malachite green and is measured spectrometrically at 660 nm.
- Malachite Green oxalate salt has been used in biliary phospholipid analysis
- Malachite Green oxalate salt has been used in the preparation of malachite green-ammonium molybdate reagent, as a stop solution for starch synthase activity assay
- To terminate the phosphatase and tensin homologue deleted on chromosome 10 (PTEN) inhibition assay using phosphatidylinositol (3,4,5) triphosphate (PI(3,4,5)P3) as substrate
- To determine trypanothione synthetase activity to measure inorganic phosphate release from adenosine triphosphate (ATP) during catalysis
Malachite green is used in the treatment of fungal and parasitic infections in fish.
