Gel filtration media, Sephadex™ G-50
Supplier: Cytiva
Sephadex™ G-50 Medium is well established gel filtration medium for desalting and buffer exchange of biomolecules >30000 molecular weight. The larger bead size of G-50 Medium is suited for large scale separations.
- Quickly desalts, removes contaminants and transfers to a new buffer in a single step
- Suitable for purification of DNA from small molecules by gel filtration
- Larger bead size for large scale group separations where high flow rates and low operating pressures are required
- Classic gel filtration medium
Sephadex™ is a gel filtration resin prepared by crosslinking dextran with epichlorohydrin. Different types of Sephadex™ differ in their degree of cross-linking and hence in their degree of swelling and their molecular fractionation range. Sephadex™ G-50 is one of six different G-types ranging from G-10 for small molecules to G-100 for very large molecules. Sephadex™ G-50 is available in 3 different particle sizes (Medium, Fine and Superfine). Superfine has the smallest bead size for higher efficiency with shorter diffusion distances. Medium is preferred for large scale group separations where high flow rates and low operating pressures are required.
Particle size (wet): 17 to 70 µm (Superfine) / 40 to 160 µm (Fine) / 100 to 300 µm (Medium).
