Description: Semaphorins are a family of cell surface and secreted proteins involved in neural development that are conserved from insects to humans. Members of this family are approximately 750 amino acids in length (including signal sequences) and are defined by a conserved extracellular “semaphorin” domain of approximately 500 amino acids containing 14-16 cysteines, blocks of conserved sequences and no obvious repeats. The transmembrane semaphorins are characterized by an additional 80 amino acid transmembrane domain and an 80-110 amino acid cytoplasmic domain. Secreted and cell-bound semaphorins chemically attract and repel the growth of neural axons, guiding the development of intricate networks of neural tissue. SEMA3E is a secreted semaphorin with 775 amino acids. Mutations in the SEMA3E gene are associated with CHARGE syndrome, a disorder characterized by cranial nerve dysfunction, coloboma of the eye, choanal atresia, inner and external ear abnormalities, cardiac anomalies, genitourinary abnormalities, and growth retardation.

Catalog Number: (BOSSBS-6073R-CY7)
Supplier: Bioss
Description: Sodium-dependent lysophosphatidylcholine (LPC) symporter, which plays an essential role for blood-brain barrier formation and function. Specifically expressed in endothelium of the blood-brain barrier of micro-vessels and transports LPC into the brain. Transport of LPC is essential because it constitutes the major mechanism by which docosahexaenoic acid (DHA), an omega-3 fatty acid that is essential for normal brain growth and cognitive function, enters the brain. Transports LPC carrying long-chain fatty acids such LPC oleate and LPC palmitate with a minimum acyl chain length of 14 carbons. Does not transport docosahexaenoic acid in unesterified fatty acid. Specifically required for blood-brain barrier formation and function, probably by mediating lipid transport. Not required for central nervous system vascular morphogenesis (By similarity). Acts as a transporter for tunicamycin, an inhibitor of asparagine-linked glycosylation. In placenta, acts as a receptor for ERVFRD-1/syncytin-2 and is required for trophoblast fusion (PubMed:18988732).

Description: TMEM147, also known as ; NIFIE 14, is a 224 amino acid protein encoded by a gene mapping to human chromosome 19. Consisting of around 63 million bases with over 1,400 genes, chromosome 19 makes up over 2% of human genomic DNA. Chromosome 19 includes a diversity of interesting genes and is recognized for having the greatest gene density of the human chromosomes. It is the genetic home for a number of immunoglobulin superfamily members including the killer cell and leukocyte Ig-like receptors, a number of ICAMs, the CEACAM and PSG family, and Fc?receptors. Key genes for eye color and hair color also map to chromosome 19. Peutz-Jeghers syndrome, spinocerebellar ataxia type 6, the stroke disorder CADASIL, hypercholesterolemia and insulin-dependent diabetes have been linked to chromosome 19. Translocations with chromosome 19 and chromosome 14 can be seen in some lymphoproliferative disorders and typically involve the proto-oncogene BCL3.

SEMA4B (semaphorin-4B), also known as SemC or SEMAC, is an 832 amino acid single-pass type I membrane protein that belongs to the semaphorin family and exists as two alternatively spliced isoforms. Containing one Ig-like C2-type (immunoglobulin-like) domain, a PSI domain and a single sema domain, SEMA4B is encoded by a gene located on human chromosome 15.

Description: Synaptotagmins are a large gene family of synaptic vesicle type III integral membrane proteins that function as regulators of both exocytosis and endocytosis and are involved in neurotransmitter secretion from small secretory vesicles. Synaptotagmin XIV, also known as SytXIV, is a 555 amino acid single-pass type III membrane protein belonging to the Synaptotagmin family. With the ability to form heterodimers, Synaptotagmin XIV mainly exists as a homodimer and contains two C2 domains, an N-terminal transmembrane domain and a putative fatty-acylation site. Synaptotagmin XIV is Ca²⁺ independent and may function in the trafficking and exocytosis of secretory vesicles to tissues outside the brain. Disruption of Synaptotagmin XIV may be affiliated with neurodevelopmental abnormalities. Synaptotagmin XIV exists as six alternatively spliced isoforms and is encoded by a gene on human chromosome 1q32.2.
