Description: Nitrotetrazolium blue (NBT), in combination with BCIP (5-bromo-4-chloro-3-indolyl-phosphate), is required for the detection of labeled probes in western blots. It is part of the colorimetric detection assay. NBT and BCIP dyes detect alkaline phosphatase activity, thereby generating an insoluble purple dye (diformazan). The dye is visible at areas where the labeled probe has hybridised to its target.

Supplier: SIGMA ALDRICH MICROSCOPY

Description: p-Nitroblue Tetrazolium Chloride is an NADPH-diaphorase substrate that competitively inhibits NOS (nitric oxide synthase) (IC50 = 3-4 μM). In combination with 5-Bromo-4-chloro-3-indolyl phosphate (BCIP) and an appropriate reaction buffer, Nitroblue tetrazolium forms a substrate for the colorimetric detection of alkaline phosphatase conjugates in a variety of molecular and cell biology techniques.

p-nitro blue tetrazolium is used for the detection of alkaline phosphatase on western blots. It has also been used as a redox indicator for other enzymatic reactions including dehydrogenases, threonine deaminase, glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase, phosphofructokinase on polyacrylamide gels, oxidases on polyacrylamide gels, and pentose shunt dehydrogenases. Redox and halfwave potentials have been determined for p - nitro blue tetrazolium. It has also been used as a colorimetric indicator of bacterial infection in blood samples.

Description: Trypan blue is the most common stain used in cell count and viability assays.
Catalog Number: MDTC25-900-CI
UOM: 1 * 1 items
Supplier: Corning

Description: Trypan Blue is a blue acid dye with a strong affinity for cellulose containing substrates such as cotton; less affinity for proteinaceous materials. Trypan blue solution may be used in trypan blue based cytotoxicity and proliferation assays.
Trypan Blue is used as a vital dye which is especially important because it is taken up by the reticuloendothelial system.
