Description: Lecithin is the major membrane phospholipid in eukaryotic cells. In addition to being the major structural component of cellular membranes, it serves as a reservoir for several lipid messengers. It is the source of the bioactive lipids lysophosphatidylcholine, phosphatidic acid, diacylglycerol, lysophosphatidylcholine, plateletactivating factor, and arachidonic acid. Leithin is used for preparation of vesicle, suspensions commonly called liposomes or as monolayers. A major structural phospholipid in brain, comprising approx. 15% of total lipid; primarily localized to gray matter. Soluble in fat, paraffin, ether, ethanol, chlorinated hydrocarbons. Dispersible in water.

Description: PIBF1 Antibody: PIBF1 is synthesized during pregnancy in response to progesterone by T lymphocytes. PIBF1 inhibits arachidonic acid release, controls NK activity, and modifies the cytokine balance exerting an anti-abortive effect. It contains a leucine zipper motif, a basic zipper sequence, a PEST sequence, a nuclear localization signal, an ER membrane retention signal and N-glycosylation and phosphorylation sites. PIBF1 is significantly higher in healthy pregnant women than in women at risk for premature pregnancy termination. Full-length PIBF1 is associated with the nucleus and functions as a transcription factor, whereas secretion of shorter forms which may act as cytokines is induced by activation of the cell.

Description: Phospholipase A2(PLA2G1B) is a secreted protein which belongs to the phospholipase A2 family. It catalyses the release of fatty acids from glycero-3-phosphocholines. It catalyses the calcium-dependent hydrolysis of the 2-acyl groups in 3-sn-phosphoglycerides. This releases glycerophospholipids and arachidonic acid that serve as the precursors of signal molecules. Sequences of pancreatic PLA2G1B enzymes from a variety of mammals have been reported. One striking feature of these enzymes is their close homology to venom phospholipases of snakes. Mice lacking in PLA2G1B are resistant to obesity and diabetes induced by feeding a diabetogenic high-fat/high-carbohydrate diet. Oral supplementation of a diabetogenic diet with the PLA2G1B inhibitor methyl indoxam effectively suppresses diet-induced obesity and diabetes. PLA2G1B inhibition may be a potentially effective oral therapeutic option for treatment of obesity and diabetes.

Description: S100A9, also known as Calgranulin B or MRP14, is a calcium- and zinc-binding protein which plays a prominent role in the regulation of inflammatory processes and immune response. It can induce neutrophil chemotaxis, adhesion, can increase the bactericidal activity of neutrophils by promoting phagocytosis via activation of SYK, PI3K/AKT, and ERK1/2 and can induce degranulation of neutrophils by a MAPK-dependent mechanism. Predominantly found as calprotectin (S100A8/A9) which has a wide plethora of intra- and extracellular functions. The intracellular functions include: facilitating leukocyte arachidonic acid trafficking and metabolism, modulation of the tubulin-dependent cytoskeleton during migration of phagocytes and activation of the neutrophilic NADPH-oxidase. Description: ALOXE3 is a member of the lipoxygenase family, which are catabolized by arachidonic acid-derived compounds. The encoded enzyme is a hydroperoxide isomerase that synthesizes a unique type of epoxy alcohol (8R-hydroxy-11R,12R-epoxyeicosa-5Z,9E,14Z-trienoic acid) from 12R-hydroperoxyeicosatetraenoic acid (12R-HPETE). This epoxy alcohol can activate the the nuclear receptor peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor alpha (PPARalpha), which is implicated in epidermal differentiation. Loss of function of the enzyme encoded by this gene results in ichthyosis, implicating the function of this gene in the differentiation of human skin.

Description: Metamizole (sodium salt) is a nonopioid prodrug that is rapidly hydrolyzed to the metabolites 4-methylaminoantipyrine (MAA) and 4-aminoantipyrine (AA), which have analgesic and antipyretic effects. MAA has been shown to inhibit COX activity 8-9-fold more potently than AA (COX-1: IC50S= 2,6 and 20,8 µM, respectively, and COX-2: IC50S= 4,7 and 41,8 µM, respectively). These metabolites can be further acylated with arachidonic acid to form compounds that can bind to central and peripheral cannabinoid (CB1 and CB2) receptors and TRPV1 receptors at low micromolar concentrations.
