Catalog Number: (BOSSBS-3167R-A750)
Supplier: Bioss
Description: Ephrin B proteins are thought to play key roles in cellular functions as diverse as neuronal migration and blood vessel development. Ephrin B molecules expressed at the membrane surface bind to the Ephrin B family receptors on target cells during cell to cell contact. This interaction leads to cell signaling in the target cell but also generates a reverse signal in the cell expressing Ephrin B on its surface. This reverse signaling event is thought to be critical for vessel maturation and neuronal development. Importantly, tyrosine phosphorylation of Ephrin B is thought to be a critical component of this reverse signaling event. Recent work demonstrated that Tyr331 of Ephrin B was phosphorylated in HEK293 cells after stimulation by the soluble Ephrin B2 receptor tyrosine kinase.

Description: IGSF3, also known as V8 or EWI-3, is a 1,214 amino acid protein. Widely expressed with predominant expression in kidney, placenta and lung, IGSF3 localizes to the membrane and contains an N-terminal signal peptide, eight immunoglobulin (Ig) domains and a transmembrane segment. IGSF3 exhibits strong sequence and structural similarity to CD101 (32% identity), a leukocyte surface protein with seven Ig domains that is believed to play a role in T-cell activation. Despite the structural similarities between IGSF3 and CD101, IGSF3 is not expressed in peripheral blood lymphocytes and does not appear to participate in an immune function. Based on its subcellular localization and the presence of the eight Ig domains, IGSF3 is hypothesized to function as a surface receptor or as a cell adhesion molecule.

Description: Otoancorin, also known as OTOA, CT108 or DFNB22, is a 1,153 amino acid protein belonging to the stereocilin family. Expressed in the inner ear and restricted to the interface between the apical surface of sensory epithelia, otoancorin is suggested to act as an adhesion molecule. Otoancorin ensures the attachment of the inner ear acellular gels to the apical surface of the underlying nonsensory cells. Mutations in the gene encoding otoancorin leads to deafness autosomal recessive type 22 (DFNB22), which is a form of sensorineural hearing loss. Sensorineural deafness results from damage to the neural receptors of the inner ear, the nerve pathways to the brain or the area of the brain that receives sound information. Existing as three alternatively spliced isoforms, otoancorin is encoded by a gene located on human chromosome 16p12.2.
