Description: The general transcription factor TFIIE has an essential role in eukaryotic transcription initiation together with RNA polymerase II and other general factors. Human TFIIE consists of two subunits of relative molecular mass 57,000 (TFIIE-alpha) and 34,000 (TFIIE-beta) and joins the preinitiation complex after RNA polymerase II and TFIIF. TFIIE-alpha is necessary for transcription initiation together with TFIIE-beta, and recombinant TFIIE-alpha can fully replace the natural subunit in an in vitro transcription assay. Its sequence contains several interesting structural motifs (leucine repeat, zinc finger and helix-turn-helix) and sequence similarities to bacterial sigma factors that suggest direct involvement in the regulation of transcription initiation

Description: EGR-1 belongs to the EGR family of C2H2-type zinc finger proteins. It is a nuclear protein and functions as a transcriptional regulator. EGR-1 recognises and binds to the DNA sequence 5'-CGCCCCCGC-3'(EGR-site).The products of target genes it activates are required for differentiation and mitogenesis. Studies suggest this is a tumour suppressor gene. EGR-1 has a distinct pattern of expression in the brain, and its induction has been shown to be associated with neuronal activity. Several studies suggest it has a role in neuronal plasticity. EGR-1 has also been found to regulate the expression of synaptobrevin II (a protein important for synaptic exocytosis).

Supplier: SIGMA ALDRICH MICROSCOPY
Description: Silver nitrate along with iodine are among several inorganic substances used to induce colour in microscopical preparations. Silver nitrate as a biological stain exploits the strong colors of colloidal metallic silver. Silver nitrate is an important component of the silver staining that is used for the detection of proteins separated by polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis. Silver nitrate is a component of the silver stain kit. It is required for image development in diamine as well as non-diamine silver staining.

Description: Cluster of differentiation 10 (CD10) is also known as membrane metallo-endopeptidase, neutral endopeptidase (NEP), Neprilysin, and common acute lymphoblastic leukemia antigen (CALLA), is a 90-110-kDa type II transmembrane glycoprotein normally expressed by a variety of tissues, including epithelial cells of the prostate, kidney, intestine, endometrium, adrenal glands, and lung. This zinc-dependent metalloprotease enzyme cleaves peptide bonds on the amino side of hydrophobic residues and inactivates a variety of physiologically active secreted peptides. CD20 is thought to be the rate-limiting degrading enzyme of amyloid β peptide (Aβ) whose abnormal misfolding and aggregation in neural tissue has been implicated in the development of Alzheimer's disease (AD). CD10 is also identified as the common acute lymphoblastic leukemia antigen (CALLA) present on leukemic cells of pre-B phenotype, and thus serves as the most important biomarker in the diagnosis of human acute lymphocytic leukemia (ALL).
