Catalog Number: (BOSSBS-5627R)
Supplier: Bioss
Description: The synucleins, including Alpha-synuclein (also designated NACP for nonamyloid component precursor),Beta-synuclein (also designated PNP 14 for neuroprotein 14)and Gamma-synuclein (also designated persyn or BCSG1 for breast cancer-specific gene 1)are presynaptic protein abundant in neurons. Alpha-synuclein, a component of Alzheimer’s disease amyloid plaques, is localized to neuronal cell bodies and synapses. Coordinate expression of Alpha-synucleinand Beta-synuclein may be important during hematopoetic cell differentiation. In patients with Parkinson’s disease, a mutant form of Alpha-synuclein has been found and Gamma-synuclein is associated with axonal pathology.

Description: GAD-65 and GAD-67, glutamate decarboxylases, function to catalyse the production of GABA (gamma-aminobutyric acid). In the central nervous system GABA functions as the main inhibitory transmitter by increasing a Cl- conductance that inhibits neuronal firing. GABA has been shown to activate both ionotropic (GABAA) and metabotropic (GABAB) receptors as well as a third class of receptors called GABAC. Both GABAA and GABAC are ligand-gated ion channels, however, they are structurally and functionally distinct. Members of the GABAA receptor family include GABAA R alpha 1-6, GABAA R beta 1-3, GABAA R gamma 1-3, GABAA R gamma , GABAA R delta. The GABAB family is composed of GABAB R1 alpha and GABAB R1 beta. GABA transporters have also been identified and include GABA T-1, GABA T-2 and GABA T-3 (also designated GAT-1, -2, and -3). The GABA transporters function to terminate GABA action.

Description: Adducins are a family of cytoskeleton proteins encoded by three genes (alpha, beta, gamma). Adducin is a protein associated with the inner leaflet of the plasma membrane and is one of the proteins localised at the spectrin-actin junction of the membrane skeleton. The cortical actin cytoskeletal network is lost during apoptosis and Adducins are central in the cortical actin network organisation. Adducin Alpha is a cytoskeletal protein involved with sodium-pump activity in the renal tubule and is associated with hypertension. The expression of Adducin Alpha and Adducin Gamma is ubiquitous in contrast to the restricted expression of Adducin Beta. Adducin Beta is expressed at high levels in brain and hematopoietic tissues, such as bone marrow, in humans, and in spleen in mice.

Description: S adenosylmethionine synthetase catalyzes the formation of S adenosylmethionine from methionine and ATP. In mammalian tissues, there are three distinct forms of AdoMet synthases designated as alpha, beta, and gamma. Alpha and beta are expressed only in adult liver, while gamma is widely distributed in extrahepatic tissues.

Description: Protein Kinase c alpha (PKC alpha) is an 77 kDa member of the conventional group (cPKCs: sensitive to calcium, diacylglycerol, phosphatidylserine and phorbol esters) of the PKC family of serine/ threonine kinases that are involved in a wide range of physiological processes including mitogenesis, cell survival and transcriptional regulation. PKC alpha is an ubiquitously expressed PKC isozyme that has been implicated in the regulation of a broad range of cellular functions including proliferation, differentiation, development, migration, cell cell adhesion, cell extracellular matrix adhesion, and solute transport. The activation loop threonine (threonine 497 in PKC alpha) of conventional PKCs is phosphorylated by phosphoinositide dependent kinase 1 (PDK1). This phosphorylation is necessary for the autophosphorylation of threonine 638 in the carboxy terminus of PKC alpha, a step that is critical for regulating the rate of PKC alpha dephosphorylation and inactivation.

Description: Phosphorylase b kinase catalyzes the phosphorylation of serine in certain substrates, including troponin I. Polymer of 16 chains, four each of alpha, beta, gamma, and delta. Alpha and beta are regulatory chains, gamma is the catalytic chain, and delta is calmodulin. The two calmodulin-binding domains appear to act in concert to bind a single molecule of calmodulin and are pseudosubstrate/autoinhibitory domains.
