Description: Carmine is a red compound and is generally used with aluminum, iron and other metal salts to enhance its activity. During smear preparation, it is required for chromatin staining in fresh material. In presence of aluminum chloride, it is used for the staining of glycogen.
Supplier: SIGMA ALDRICH MICROSCOPY
Description: Certified for Giemsa stain for blood films and for the Wolbach′s Giemsa method for paraffin sections. Giemsa is a versatile polychromatic stain, which is suitable for staining a diverse range of specimens. It is a buffered thiazine-eosinate solution designed to provide coloration of blood cells. Giemsa’s stain is frequently used for diagnostic purposes in hematology to differentiate the nuclear and cytoplasmic morphology of platelets, RBCs, WBCs, and parasites. It is frequently used in combination with other dye solutions as May-Grunwald’s solution for Pappenheim (MGG) and Wright-Giemsa. The Giemsa stain was adapted to histology due to its unique staining of chromatin, nuclear membranes, and cytoplasmic elements. Giemsa′s staining solution is composed of methylene blue, azure, and eosin.

Description: Gram’s crystal violet solution, also known as gentian violet or hexamethyl pararosaniline, is a basic, cationic, acidotropic aminoarylmethane dye. It is a hexa-N-methylated triaminotriphenylmethane with a moderately sized lipophilic cation and a slightly nonplanar conjugated system. It is used in bacteriology as the primary stain in Gram staining to differentiate Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria. It is known to possess antibacterial and antifungal properties.

Supplier: SIGMA ALDRICH MICROSCOPY
Description: Osmium tetroxide is also referred to as osmium and is mainly used as a secondary fixative of tissues. The molecule reacts with lipid moieties and is responsible for the oxidation of unsaturated bonds of fatty acids. This reaction adds density and contrast to biological samples. In normal tissues, presence of osmium results in intense black staining which can be viewed by normal eye. In addition, it can be used as a mordant (a molecule which combines with stain or dye at later stages) in electron microscopy, thereby enhancing lead staining.

Catalog Number: (GS500-500ML)
Supplier: SIGMA ALDRICH MICROSCOPY
Description: When blood films are stained using Giemsa Stain, the nucleus and cytoplasm of white blood cells take on characteristic blue or pink coloration. The use of purified eosin and thiazine dyes minimizes lot-to-lot variation.
UOM: 1 * 500 mL
